Us
The
Upper Delaware Writers Collective (UDWC) was founded in 1993 as a charity
organization. Based in Sullivan County, NY, it also has members and
activities in Wayne and Pike counties in PA and Orange County, NY.
Ongoing
Activities
-
Monthly
workshop circle (Sept. - June) with an emphasis on poetry.
-
Publication
of chapbooks of member work ("Gatherings" (2000), "Collective
Memory" (2002) and "Wheel" (2004)). Creation of "Call
Me River!," a soundpiece for DIGit Festival, 2006. Available
on CD.
-
Readings
and performances in area venues such as NaCI Theater, Grey Towers
Historic Site, Café Roxana, Peeze Louise, the Springhouse,
Poetry on the Loose and the Himalayan Institute.

Camporama
(one-day retreat for UDWC members and the public).

Radio
appearances on WJFF public radio station.
Past
Activities

1994
-1998: Sponsored Poet’s Call, a poetry contest for
area youths grades
1 -12. Judged by a panel of local writers. Tee shirts and prizes
given during awards ceremony.

-1999: Sponsored Penguin Camp for the Arts, a day camp
with an arts and environmental focus.
Planned
Activities

Sponsorship
of an expanded roster of workshops and retreats in writing and other
subjects, open to the public.

Publication
of member work (in CD or book form).

Readings
planned for venues around the area. Participation in 2007 DIGit
festival.
Membership
The UDWC currently has 19 members. Annual membership fee is
$20.
